What is the issue with merging associative arrays using array_merge in PHP?

When merging associative arrays using array_merge in PHP, if the arrays have the same string keys, the values from the second array will overwrite the values from the first array. To solve this issue and merge the arrays without overwriting values, you can use the "+" operator instead of array_merge. 

$array1 = ['a' => 1, 'b' => 2];
$array2 = ['b' => 3, 'c' => 4];

$result = $array1 + $array2;
